By incorporatingher vision into the projects, she aims to create designs that are not only aesthetically pleasing but also environmentally friendly. Her professional interests include biophilic solutions, especially green roofs, living facades, green curtains and implementation of biophilia in interior design. Why biophilic architecture?
I love nature, beautiful architecture, and managing financially successful projects. Nowadays, biophilic architecture is the best way to connect those elements.
So, do you believe it will become more popular?
It is already happening. Not many people realize, but most countries impose legal obligations on new projects to include biophilia, especially in the urban environment.
Do you think legislative changes for developers are needed ?
It saddens me to see that the dominant approach of property developers to modern building and landscape design largely treats nature as either an obstacle to overcome or a trivial and irrelevant consideration. In fact, nature should be considered a key feature for the occupants. Imagine an apartment building with a park on one side and an industrial complex on the other. Which view would you prefer to see from your window?
Does it take longer to design a biophilic project ?
Not really. Although it requires a lot of imagination, thinking, and knowledge. It might sound hippie, but in fact, it is an extremely technical issue so the decision to implement it should be made at the very beginning of the designing process. I hope that with the popularization of biophilic architecture, more and more developers will go in that direction and the general population can escape the fate of living in concrete, overheated, and polluted places.
